Like Father ~ Like Son

For those of you who know Roland, you know that he is always working on a project!  Usually his Jeep or our other vehicles.  It actually is really nice to have a hubby that will tackle anything even when he knows nothing about it.  He put a used engine in his Jeep all by himself just by reading the manual!
Anyways... The other day Jace and D'Sean were out on the deck playing.  I went out to check on them and discovered they had found Mimi's electric screw driver and were "working on their cars" just like Daddy.  I said they needed to make sure it was okay with Mimi to use her screw driver.  She said yes of course!  They have a race car, motorcycle, tractor, bike, and trike. They played so nicely for a couple hours!  When I went to check on their "progress",  I couldn't help but totally crack-up!  The deck was covered with literally a hundred screws!  The batteries were out of the cars, the tires, handle bars, and seats were laying everywhere!  So needless to say, they have been having the time of their lives...  We are working on getting their toys ride able again!

I Want to Be Just Like You
He climbs in my lap for a good night hug
He calls me Dad and I call him Bub
With his faded old pillow and a bear named Pooh
He snuggles up close and says, "I want to be like you"
I tuck him in bed and I kiss him good night
Trippin' over the toys as I turn out the light
And I whisper a prayer that someday he'll see
He's got a father in God 'cause he's seen Jesus in me

Lord, I want to be just like You
'Cause he wants to be just like me
I want to be a holy example
For his innocent eyes to see
Help me be a living Bible, Lord
That my little boy can read
I want to be just like You
'Cause he wants to be like me

Got to admit I've got so far to go
Make so many mistakes and I'm sure that You know
Sometimes it seems no matter how hard I try
With all the pressures in life I just can't get it all right
But I'm trying so hard to learn from the best
Being patient and kind, filled with Your tenderness
'Cause I know that he'll learn from the things that he sees
And the Jesus he finds will be the Jesus in me
Right now from where he stands I may seem mighty tall
But it's only 'cause I'm learning from the best Father of them all

Happy 4th of July!

Freedom is never given, It is won...

In war, there are lives risked and lives taken
Men and women giving their best to defend what they love
They defend their country
Their honor
Their people
Some call them soldiers
Others call them heroes
Our veterans have risked their lives for us
They have lived through hell and fought with honor
Many have killed
And regret doing so
For every life, there is a soul
For every soul, there is a life
For those who have died, we show great appreciation and remembrance
For those who live, along with them live the horrific memories of battle
Some, memories of defeat
Some, memories of victory
Our veterans were more than soldiers
They were, and still are heroes

We had a wonderful holiday with everybody!  A BIG THANK YOU to Derrick and Rose-The Host/Hostess with the mostess! Thank you for all the good food and great company!  You both are such a blessing to us!  I will never forget the time-Roland and I had just gotten married- you two came over, brought and prepared us a huge breakfast feast like no other!  You said cooking together would keep us together… Roland and I have had some of our fondest memories cooking together.  Here we are going on 8 years later-More kids, More food, More FUN!  We love you, appreciate you, and enjoy your company more than ever!  More good times ahead!

My Little Drummer Boy!

Jace did an awesome job playing the drums on Sunday-the first time in an actual church service. I am one proud mom! That took more than talent, but a lot of courage also. (especially for a five year old!) Even though he pasted on the “I got this” look, he was shaking down to his toes! (Maybe that’s why he had such a good bass beat! lol)

I know he has music flowing through his veins like his daddy, but he also has a daddy who works often with him on his drum skills. (Just ask Mimi-whose bedroom is next to the garage where the drums/karaoke/piano is set up) Hey! Throughout the years she bought it all so… Jace is very considerate though. Not too long ago, while Mimi was napping, Jace popped into her bedroom and said, “Oh! I thought you were awake! Would you like me to play you a little song on the drums while you sleep? See… very considerate!

A Special thanks to all the charter members of the Jace Ellis fan club: Aleha, Alena, Andrew, Keisha, Kendall, Jeff, Josh, Justin, Makaila, Makenna and Summer- Our precious family and friends who came out to support Jace on his debut!
We love fellowship Sunday! Each one is better than the last! The highlight of this past one-besides the 500 meatballs and no desserts, was the sprinkler over the volleyball court! A really fun idea- for a burning hot day-from our ever ingenious Pastor! It really was way Cool! Get it?

(Oh, by the way… We contributed to the 500 meatballs, and for the first time, we did not bring a dessert! Great minds think alike! =D)
